| Robert Burns / Hogmanay / Auld Lang Syne |
|
Robert Burns, also known as Rabbie Burns and Scotland's
favourite son, was a Scottish poet and a lyricist. He is widely regarded as
the national poet of Scotland, and is celebrated worldwide.
Robert Burns sent a copy of the original song to the
British Museum with this comment:
The following song, an old song, of the olden times, and which has never
been in print, nor even in manuscript until I took it down from an old man's
singing, is enough to recommend any air.
"Auld Lang Syne" is the international tune of camaraderie and New Year
celebrations. |
