The Royal Highland Show
is run by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society
of Scotland which has its 225th anniversary this year
having been founded in 1784 to promote the regeneration
of rural Scotland.
The first Highland Show was held in 1822 on the site
now occupied by the controversial, award-winning Scottish
Parliament building in Edinburgh.
After more than a century of moving to different locations
throughout Scotland, the “Highland” put down its permanent
roots at Ingliston on the western fringes of Edinburgh
in 1960. |

Rod Stewart has one of
the greatest and most distinctive voices in rock history—no
less than the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, called
Stewart "the best white soul singer."
With an estimated 250 million in album and single
sales, Stewart is also one of the most successful
performers of all time. His last five studio albums
have held the top spots on the Billboard charts.

This year Mick Hucknall
celebrates 25 years of unbroken service with the band
he founded, fronted and named. Simply Red emerged
out of the streets and clubs of Manchester in the
post-punk era of 1984 and within 12 months were riding
in the British charts.
As well as singing lead vocals, Mick also writes most
of Simply Red's songs and has won many awards including
three Brits, two Ivor Novellos and a Mobo.
