There are few products so closely related to the land of
their birth than Scotch whisky. It is the lifeblood of Scotland historically,
socially and economically.
Whisky has been produced in Scotland for hundreds of years. It is generally
agreed that monks brought distillation with them along with Christianity in the
fourth and fifth centuries.
The word - 'whisky' - derives from uisge, which is an abbreviation of uisge
beatha, the Scottish Gaelic for 'Water of Life'. |

On the nose there is a riot of sherry, almonds, toffee, treacle, hot sponge
cake, banana kept under control by just a hint of oak. On the palate it starts
with dry oaky vanilla, toffee and figs.
