There are few
products so closely related to the land of their
birth than Scotch whisky. It is the lifeblood
of Scotland: historically, socially and economically.
Whisky has been produced in Scotland for hundreds
of years. It is generally agreed that monks brought
distillation with them along with Christianity
in the fourth and fifth centuries.
The word - 'whisky' - derives from uisge, which
is an abbreviation of uisge beatha, the Scottish
Gaelic for 'Water of Life'. |
